Democrat Barack Obama won convincingly US presidential election. EuroNews reports regarding this.
Barack Obama has made his first speech as US President-elect to his jubilant supporters.
After an historic night the Democrat is to be America’s first black president and the enormity of the occasion was lost on no one.
While he paid his respects to his rival John McCain,
this was a time to say thank-you to those who had put him there.
"Americans will send a message to the world that we have never been just a collections of individuals, or a collection of red states or blue states, we are always will be the United States of America."
And once again at the heart of the speech was the word which had summed up his campaign "change".
" It’s been a long time coming but tonight because of what we did on this day, in this election, at this defining moment, change has come to America".
As BBC reports according to the preliminary data the popular vote stood at 52% for the Democratic Senator from Illinois, against 47% for Arizona Senator McCain.
