Tskhinvali accuses Georgia of involvement in Artsevi-Kveshi bridge blast.
As the news agency Res reports, the de facto minister of defense of south Ossetia Ibrag Gasaev stated the following.
‘In the night of October 31 the bridge was exploded in the village of Artsevi. According to the preliminary data, Georgia special units have exploded it. The village of Artsevi borders the village of Kveshi. Ossetian law enforcers are working at the site.’ – Gasaev remarked.
Georgian side evaluates the bridge blast as the provocation and act of terrorism.
Nobody has been injured due to the explosion.

Riga Conference organized by LATO will be opened today, 31 October and lasts till 2 November in the Melngalvju Nams (Blackheads House), the Riga Conference Europe Whole and Free: 90 years in the making will take place. On the eve of the 90th anniversary of Latvia's independence, Riga will gather heads of states, the world's leading academicians, politicians, representatives from non-governmental organizations, commentators and journalists to review significant challenges to the European and Transatlantic community in the 21st century. In their discussions the participants will attempt to estimate the impact of the Western democracy model in the world, analyze the roots and consequences of the Russia-Georgia conflict, look into decisions by which NATO is going to mark its 60th anniversary, into the options for future relations of the West with Russia, the prospects for the European Union in 2009 and into the future as envisioned by the European democracies.

Two Russian Soldiers Died in Incident in Village Saberio

Georgia has a new Premier Minister. Grigol Mgaloblishvili has been appointed to the position of the premier-minister of Georgia.
Mikheil Saakashvili, the president of Georgia introduced Grigol Mgaloblishvili, to the Parliamentary majority today. The meeting between the President of Georgia and MPs is in process in the Presidential residence of Avlabari at the moment.
Grigol (Gega) Mgaloblishvili has served as the ambassador of Georgia to Turkey, Albania and Bosnia / Herzogovina till now. He is 35 years old and was appointed as the ambassador (with residence in Ankara) in 2004.

Legend of Argentinean football Diego Armando Maradona and his friends will visit Tbilisi on October 22.
Niko Patarkaliashvili, initiator of this event, stated about it in ‘Sheraton Metekhi Palace’ on press conference yesterday.
‘We wanted to hold four national tournament on October 20-26 in Tbilisi on ‘Maradona Cup’. Uruguay, Argentine, Brazil and Georgian youth teams would take part in it. Maradona would give award the winners, but it was impossible to hold the tournament due to eminent August events. We plan to hold the tournament in June next year’, - Patarkaliashvili stated.
He says that Maradona will visit Tbilisi with his friends on October 22 and the match will be held on October 25, where Maradona’s friend team will meet with Georgian veterans’ team.
The ticket will cost from 10 to 150 GEL. Argentineans will leave Georgia on October 27, though Maradona may head to his homeland earlier.

As the press centre of the Ministry of Defense of Georgia reports-‘‘On 22-23 October of the current year the conference with slogan- "the partnership of Georgian Police Academy with the Association of European Police Colleges within the framework of European co-operation policy" will be performed under the patronage of Police Academy of the Ministry of Interior. The conference will be performed in the attendance of the representatives of member states from the association of European Police Colleges. The above mentioned association has united more than 50 leading police academies throughout Europe. It’s also notable that the Rector of Police Academy of MIA, Mrs. khatuna Dekanoidze has been chosen of the post of Vice president of the Association of European Police Colleges.
Within the framework of the event the delegates from Austria, Cypress, Latvia, Belgium, Spain, Montenegro, Sweden, Estonia, and Netherlands will pay an official visit to Georgian Police Academy of the Ministry of Interior. Unknown civilians who ran into the sequestrated office of Irakli Okruashvili on Atoneli Street a few minutes ago appeared to be IDPs.
Badri Basiashvili, MP of Liakhvi Gorge is at the place of the incident. As the IDPs declared they had nowhere to go. Before their storming in the office, several IDPs families were settled there.
During confrontation the cameras video cameras, microphones and video cassettes of the journalists of Rustavi 2 and Imedi were taken away. The journalists demand their things back but without any results till now.
Temur Grigalashvili, the head of city police is at the place of incident.
The incident developed after 50 civilians stormed into the Sequestrated office of Irakli Okruashvili on Atoneli Street today evening.
Before, as Eka Beselia, the leader of the Movement United Georgia stated to the correspondent of InterpressNews at the scene of the incident, 50 people civilians ran in the building a few minutes ago.
As Eka Beselia declared they tried to move IDPs from the building with force.

Abkhazians Opened Fire to Khurcha

Abkhazian side opened fire from Gali region village Nabakevi to Khurcha at 05:00. Shootings continued for several minutes.
Shootings restored at 07:00 from Abkhazian side. They fired from guns and grenade launchers. One shell fell in the yard of local resident. The house was significantly damaged, though there are not injuries.
There is peace in village Khurcha. In spite of the incident, local population is not going to leave the village. Georgian side states that this is provocation from Abkhazian side.

Russian Soldiers Injured Head of Abkhazian Militia of Gali Lower Zone Villages Besik Chkonia

There were shootings heard in Gali region village Otobaia yesterday.
Head of Abkhazian militia of Gali lower zone villages Besik Chkonia entered base of Russian soldiers. Chkonia had a container on the territory of the base, where he kept nuts taken from Georgian population, though Russian soldiers didn’t let him take the container. This was reason of armed confrontation.
Russian soldiers injured Besik Chkonia in belly and threw out of the base territory as they thought he was dead, though, Chkonia was taken to Nabakevi hospital by local population and then to Gali region hospital.
He is in critical situation.

Session of Georgian Government to be Held Today

The session of Georgian Government will be held today, October 16.
The press centre of Chancellery of Government reported InterpressNews regarding this.

No Georgian manages to enter in 9 villages of Didi Liakhvi Gorge, 4 villages of Patara Liakhvi and several villages of Frone Gorge.
Russians make no comment on the above-mentioned territories.

OSCE Mission Supports Skopje Study Trip For Georgian Anti –trafficking Practitioners

Representatives of the Georgian government and non-governmental organizations engaged in the fight against trafficking in human beings are taking part in an OSCE Mission-supported study tour to Skopje which ends today.
Representatives of the Georgian State Fund for Protection and Assistance of the Victims of Trafficking, the Prosecutor’s Office, the Constitutional Court and Public Defender’s Office, as well as other anti-trafficking practitioners met with counterparts from the Interior Ministry, the Justice Ministry, the National Commission to Combat Human Trafficking and Illegal Migration, local NGOs and international organizations. They discussed up-to-date approaches to fighting trafficking in human beings and identifying and assisting victims.
"The Mission, in co-operation with other international organizations, supports the Georgian Government and NGOs in developing and implementing an effective framework for anti-trafficking activities that is in line with OSCE anti-trafficking commitments and focuses on protecting the human rights of victims," said Inkeri Aarnio-Lwoff, head of the human dimension office in the OSCE Mission to Georgia.
The OSCE Mission is promoting the implementation of the 2007-2008 National Action Plan against Human Trafficking, which was developed by the Government and NGO representatives with OSCE support, as well as assisting in preparing a new plan for 2009-2010.

Peter Semneby – Bernard Kushner’s Visit to Conflict Zone Today is Symbolical

Peter Semneby, EU special representative for the South Caucasus, calls symbolical Bernard Kushner’s visit to conflict zone today.
‘As it is known, today is the deadline of withdrawal of Russian troops; therefore, the visit has a symbolical meaning.’ – Peter Semneby remarked.
Though, EU special representative for the south Caucasus underlined that in this case, we talked over the withdrawal of Russian troops from the nearby territories of Abkhazia and so called south Ossetia not from Akhalgori and Kodori Gorge.

Bernard Kushner to Meet with Georgian President in Batumi

France foreign minister Bernard Kushner arrived in Georgia yesterday evening. His visit aims at observing fulfillment of Russian commitments.
Bernard Kushner has already set out for Gori today morning and will observe situation in South Ossetian zone with EU observation mission car.
Kushner will return to Tbilisi after this and hold meetings. French minister will go to Batumi at about 16:00 where meeting between him and Georgian president will be held.
After meeting with the president, joint announcement will probably be made. Bernard Kushner will return to his homeland from Batumi.

Ukrainian and Azerbaijanian Presidents not to Take Part In Meeting of CIS States Leaders

Ukrainian and Azerbaijanian presidents will not take part in CIS states leader meeting held today, October 10.
‘Interfax’ was informed about it by Kyrgyzstan ambassador to CIS and Byelorussia Lidia Imanalieva.
Ukraine will be represented by Security Council Secretary Raisa Bogatirova, Azerbaijan will be represented by prime minister Artur Rasizade.
Illham Aliyev can not visit the meeting due to presidential election held on October 15, Victor Yushchenko – due to snap parliamentary elections.

Switzerland Agreed to Defend Russia's Interests in Georgia

Switzerland will defend Russia's interests in Georgia. After the official break up of diplomatic relationships between Tbilisi and Moscow, a third state will take care of Russian citizens. On Russia's demand, representatives of the official Stockholm will carry out this mission.
Switzerland agrees to defend Russian Federation's diplomatic interests in Georgia, although is not eligible to provide consulate services yet. Russian Federation sent the appeal to Switzerland few days ago. Before reaching the agreement between the parties the Swiss embassy will not provide consulate services and issuing visas in Georgia.
The diplomatic ties between Russia and Georgia broke up after the armed conflict in August.

The process of the pullout ahs not launched yet. The Russians are obliged to leave the village Nadarbazevi and Netzykeri today, October 6.
Russians are still maintaining control on the 12-kilometer long security zone
and several villages of the Kareli region.

The delegation of Belgian businessmen, interested in deepening business relationship with Georgian partners, will visit Tbilisi today, October 6.
As InterpressNews was reported in the Chamber of Commerce of Georgia, the visit of the delegation will last two days. The delegation is staffed out of 6 representatives of the 6 different Belgian companies.
The meeting between the Belgian delegation and the Georgian counter partners will be held in Country Yard Marriott today, October 6. The forum will be opened by Jemal Inaishvili, the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Georgia.
