As per the Heritage Foundation, Georgia will improve its position in the
Economic Freedom Index, - Minister of Economy and Sustainable
Development and Deputy Prime Minister Dimitri Kumsishvili said at
yesterday's briefing.
According to Kumsishvili, the data includes a trade component. "According to preliminary reports, we will improve our position among the world's 178 countries and will take the third place", - said Kumsishvili and explained to the citizens what the Economic Freedom Index means.
"We have an open and liberal economy; we have no obstacles or barriers at the border. Consequently, the products needed by our population, is imported without additional taxes. it was due to the open trade policy that the devaluation of GEL in our country was not accompanied by inflationary moments. All this was recognized by the international rating company and, accordingly, we will be the third country in the Economic Freedom Index", - said Kumsishvili.
