Government to protect rights of homeless and working children

The Georgian government will protect rights of the homeless and working children. The bill has already been approved by the government. It was prepared by the Justice Ministry.

According to Tea Tsulukiani, the bill will establish a term ‘homeless child’ that will also imply a whole set of public services.

‘You know that such children cannot receive any documents and they cannot be identified. It cannot be defined where they are from, whether they are our citizens and if they were born here. It happensbecause those responsible for their identification do not address us. As a result of the reform we will allow caring agencies to address the Justice Ministry and the issue will not depend on parents or any legal representatives,’ Tsulukiani said.

According to her, social workers’ rights will also be expanded.
