According to Ambassador of Russia to the UN Vitaly Churkin, Russia is a peacekeeper for 60 years. Such an answer was given by Churkin to the following question of a journalist of CNN ‘Why Russia is struggling against Georgia, when it should play the role of a mediator?’
According to Churkin, 50 peacekeepers were killed and 150 – injured during the conflict taken place in these days.
‘Georgia is violating peace pact and struggles against peacekeeping forces. We haven’t loose our temper, but merely we are defending our citizens’, he noted.
‘We are suppressing Georgia’s aggression towards South Ossetia, which also implies destruction of military infrastructures of the Georgians’, Vitali Churkin stated.
Russian aviation has attacked the capital of Georgia this time. As a result of bombing taking place this morning, at about 6.00pm, a take-off runway of ‘Tbilaviamsheni’ Airdrome has been bombed.
Giorgi Zhorzholiani, a representative of military-political magazine ‘Arsenal’, having come to the site of accident reported InterpressNews regarding this. As he stated, according to preliminary information, bombing was performed from one bomber, which dropped 500-kg several shells.
As a result of bombing, minor injuries have been inflicted to the officers of security service of the territory.
The fact of bombing has been already confirmed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia. No information regarding casualties has been released until yet.
