Georgians arrived in Germany may be refused to be provided with asylum

The local government of Bavaria requests the so-called safe countries’ list to be expanded in order for the migrants flow to decrease.

As reported by German edition Süddeutsche Zeitung, Georgia is requested to be enlisted in the enumeration.

As reported the initiative means that those arrived in Germany from Georgia will be refused the asylum as Georgia is considered to be a safe country.

According to the article, a country where there is no political persecution is assessed as safe.

According to Bavaria’s Interior Minister Joachim Herrman, the list will assist the government to make decisions over asylum-seekers sooner. He said Armenia, Moldova, Ukraine, India, Mali, Mongolia, Algeria, Gambia and Bangladesh should be in the list.

In Parallel EU Summit, G8 Countries Meeting to be Held in Japan

G8 member countries meeting will be held in Japan in parallel the EU summit today, September 1.
Except other significant issues the Parliament Chairmen of G8, will discuss the situation in Georgia.
Seven countries of G8: Japan, Germany, France, Italy, Canada, USA and Britain have condemned the recognition of independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia by Russia.
Russian DUMA press-speaker Boris Grizlov will arrive in Japan as well.
G8 countries’ summit will last till September 3.

President of Georgia Spoke with German Chancellor by Phone

President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili spoke with Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel by phone.
According to the German Chancellor, Germany is ready to take part in negotiations.
‘Germany will be actively involved in negotiations, as we consider that fire must be ceased immediately’, Angela Merkel stated
