Ukrainian and Azerbaijanian Presidents not to Take Part In Meeting of CIS States Leaders

Ukrainian and Azerbaijanian presidents will not take part in CIS states leader meeting held today, October 10.
‘Interfax’ was informed about it by Kyrgyzstan ambassador to CIS and Byelorussia Lidia Imanalieva.
Ukraine will be represented by Security Council Secretary Raisa Bogatirova, Azerbaijan will be represented by prime minister Artur Rasizade.
Illham Aliyev can not visit the meeting due to presidential election held on October 15, Victor Yushchenko – due to snap parliamentary elections.

63rd Session of UN Assembly to Begin in NY

The 63rd session of UN General Assembly began in UN headquarter in New York.More than 120 heads of states and governments will make the speeches at the session. The global issues such as peace and security, combating terrorism, protection of human rights and environment, social and economic development will be discussed at the session. Traditionally general political discussions will be held within the framework of the session.Besides, the issues of UN Security Council’s reforms, activation of General Assembly and AIDS will be discussed.Commons political discussions will begin on September 23 and last till October 1.By the information of UN press service the presidents of Georgia, Brazil, USA, France, Serbia, Argentina, Gabon, Lithuania and Iran will address the opening session of the UN General Assembly. ‘Ukrainian President will be the first from the CIS who will make a speech on September 24. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will make his speech on September 29’, reports the UN press service.

Georgia Leaves CIS, Commonwealth of Independent Countries

The President of Georgia reached a decision to leave CIS . Mikheil Saakashvili stated the following in the rally held today outside the Parliament of Georgia.
The President of Georgia called Ukraine and other CIS- member –countries to leave the organization.
‘Nobody can force Georgia to its knees. We reached several important decisions. We leave CIS and say farewell to Soviet Union. We call Ukraine and other CIS – member –countries to leave CIS.’- declared Mikheil Saakashvili.
As Mikheil Saakashvili stated, the Government of Georgia decided to declare south Ossetia and Abkhazia as occupied territory.
‘We decided to declare Russian army as occupation army, and south Ossetia and Abkhazia as - occupied.’ – The President of Georgia remarked.

Russian Peacekeepers and Georgia Side Agreed on Non-Using of Military Aviation

Sergey Chaban –the Commander of CIS Peacekeeping Forces in the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict zone and Zaza Gorozia, Governor of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region concluded an agreement at the meeting in Chuburkhinji.
The agreement implies non-using of military aviation by Russian forces in the territory of Georgia.
Though, Chaban has remarked that the agreement does not implicate the territory of Tskhinvali.
Russian peacekeepers will control 12 km zone according to mandate. Besides, according to the agreement, representatives of the UN, Russian and Georgian peacekeepers will patrol together in Zugdidi region, namely in 12 km safe zone.
