Special Session of Parliament to be held Today, August 24

A special out of turn session will be held in the Parliament of Georgia today, August 23.
It is not known yet, which issues are to be discussed at the session.
The special session is due to start at 12:00pm.

Delegation of European Parliament to Visit Georgia today, August 19, 2008

Elmar Brok and Otmar Karas, the members of the European Parliament Will visit Georgia today, August 19.
As InterpressNews was reported in the press centre of the Parliament of Georgia, the delegation will hold meetings with Davit Bakradze, the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia and Davit Darchiashvili, the Chairman of Committee on European Integration of the Parliament of Georgia today.
After the meeting the delegation of the European Parliament will set off for Gori. Afterwards the meeting with Mikheil Saakashvili, the President of Georgia is planned.
Elmar Brok and Otmar Karas will leave Georgia on August20.

Matias Iorsh and Castrio Islam to Pay 3- Day –Special –Visit to Georgia

The representatives of the European Council – Matias Iorsh and Castrio Islam will arrive in Georgia today , August 19.
As InterpressNews was reported in the press centre of the Parliament of Georgia , today , on August 19 , the representatives of the European Council will meet Temur Iakobashvili, the State Minister of Georgia for Reintegration issues, Giorgi Bakradze , the chairman of Parliament of Georgia , Eka Tkeshelashvili, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Vano Merabishvili, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Davit Kezerashvili, the Minister of Defense of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, the President of Georgia .
The special visit of Matias Iorsh and Castrio Islam to Georgia will last for 3 days. The representatives of the European Council will leave Georgia on August 21.

Georgia Leaves CIS, Commonwealth of Independent Countries

The President of Georgia reached a decision to leave CIS . Mikheil Saakashvili stated the following in the rally held today outside the Parliament of Georgia.
The President of Georgia called Ukraine and other CIS- member –countries to leave the organization.
‘Nobody can force Georgia to its knees. We reached several important decisions. We leave CIS and say farewell to Soviet Union. We call Ukraine and other CIS – member –countries to leave CIS.’- declared Mikheil Saakashvili.
As Mikheil Saakashvili stated, the Government of Georgia decided to declare south Ossetia and Abkhazia as occupied territory.
‘We decided to declare Russian army as occupation army, and south Ossetia and Abkhazia as - occupied.’ – The President of Georgia remarked.

Emergent: Russia Military Units to Attack Zugdidi

Davit Bakradze - the speaker of Parliament of Georgia has made a statement shortly and stated the Russian units intend to attack Zugdidi.
